John Raine

John has been your Green District Councillor for more than seventeen years and was elected as a County Councillor in May 2013. He was previously a parish councillor in West Malvern for five years. John and his family have lived here for more than 38 years - their three children attended the local primary schools; Susan, his wife, teaches the piano locally, and he has been organist of his local church, St James’s, West Malvern, for some twenty seven years.

John's public service experience is complemented by his work at the University of Birmingham where he is Director of the Institute of Local Government Studies and a professor specialising in criminal justice and local government. He is a member of the Malvern Hills Conservators; serves on the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB); and is a school governor at Somers Park Primary School (and previously Hanley Castle High School).  He is a trustee of Malvern Community Energy; a member of the founding group of ‘Malvern Welcomes Syrian Refugees’, and chairs the steering group that oversees the re-establishment of horticultural therapy for people recovering from mental health problems at Link Nurseries, Powick.

Green Party Meetings

Malvern Hills Green Party monthly meeting Thurs 7th Feb 2019 AGM & branch meeting

AGM will start 7.00pm at the Resource Room, Lyttelton Well, Church Street, Malvern WR14 2AY.

Immediately following (and no later than 8.00pm start) will be the monthly branch meeting. All members welcome to come along if they would like to contribute in some way no matter how small - all gratefully received!
