Elected to prepresent Malvern West Ward in the 2017 District Council by-election, Natalie McVey has lived in the Malvern Hills Area with her Husband Mike, 2 cats and 2 ancient indoor guinea pigs since 2015. Previous to this she lived in the Wyre Forest Area where she was the first Green Party Candidate to stand in a General Election. She appeared on The Sunday Politics Show in the run up to the General Election.
She has BA Hons in Philosophy with Social Science from The University of Sussex.
For the last 9 years she has worked as Service Lead for Young People in Worcestershire County Council's Libraries, Learning and Arts Service. This Countywide role includes organising the annual Young Poet Laureate Competition, engaging young people in projects and activities including volunteering to support The Summer Reading Challenge, and embedding Autism Friendly Libraries standards across all libraries.
Natalie is a Trustee of Young Solutions, and a member of Worcestershire Arts Partnership, leading to involvement in a number of high profile Arts projects in the West Midlands Region.
Natalie founded a residents group within weeks of moving to The Malvern Hills Area and has voiced the views of her neighbours at Town Council Meetings.
Natalie loves to explore the countryside on foot and by bike, experiment with new recipes and read Young Adult fiction. She is also a huge Indie music fan and actively campaigned to keep BBC 6Music on the air.
Natalie has been Vegetarian for 32 years, the last two of which she has been Vegan and is passionate about protecting the natural environment and opposing animal cruelty.
Natalie loves life and it's challenges and describes herself as an eternal optimist.
